Rocky Road

To go with the brownies that i made for Bubble's work morning tea,  i made some Rocky Road.

This is a super easy way to make Rocky Road, and i love it because it doesn't have nuts in it.

All you need is:
1.5-2 pks of chocolate buttons
1 pk snakes
1 pk mini marshmellows
1 pk jelly babies/or gummy bears
1 pk raspberries/ or lips
some coconut (if wanted)

All i do is cut up all the lollies, put the marshmellows with them, add the coconut, melt the chocolate and add it to the mix, then mix it all together!

All the lollies cut up
when combined, pour it all into a lined tin, then into the fridge it goes!

once its set, take it out and cut it up.

Easy!!

Lemon Slice

Mmmmm.....Lemon Slice...

This lemon slice is easy (like most of the things that i made for Bubble's morning tea were).

It just a pk of Marie Biscuits, Butter, 1 cup of coconut, 3/4 tin of Condensed Milk, and the rind of 1 lemon (or more if the lemon are small).

Crush up the biscuits
Then add all the other ingredients
Mix it all up til combined
Press the mixture into a slice container, then put it into the fridge for til set (i generally leave overnight)
Make the icing (1pk of sifted icing sugar, some melted butter, lemon juice, and warm water - i don't really have amounts for this icing, i just keep adding to the icing sugar until I'm happy with it - i also like it 'lemon-y' so add a fair amount of lemon juice and therefore less water)
Back in the fridge it goes to set.

Mmmmm......Lemon Slice!

Brownies!!

I haven't baked anything in a while, we have just been too busy.

But Bubbles had a morning tea at work that he hosted (rotational thing) this week, so i thought that i had better get some of the baking under way and made these about a week ago.

I love this Brownie recipe. Mum (the Former First Lady) found it somewhere and we all enjoy eating these. They are very easy to make, it all goes in 1 saucepan (even Lucille makes them regularly as they are quick & easy, although i should say, he can cook and very well).

To start, its just Dark Chocolate & Butter, melted in a saucepan.

When it's melted, you just turn off the heat, and let it cool a bit.

Then add the flours, cocoa, eggs, vanilla & sugar. Mix it all together. Mix in some extra chocolate chunks. Then put it into a lined slice tin. In the oven for about 50min.

The Brownies taste alright if served up once they are cooled, but for some reason, they taste even better if you put them in the freezer for a while (or leave them there until you need them).

Yummy!

The old Bathtub (Part 1)

When we brought the house, we desided that we had to redo the bathroom before we moved it.

This renovation included pulling EVERYTHING out of the bathroom and replacing everything.

It also left us with a lovely yellow 60's bathtub & basin.

We thought that maybe we could use them as flowerbeds, but we listed the tub & basin on the Trading Post (and also some doors) to see if we could sell them first. They didnt sell (although the doors did). So, we desided that we would figure out how to use them 'later'.

Bubbles hard at work
So, about two years later, Bubbles has started building a frame for them to sit in. This project is getting done now, as Bubbles has been slowly redoing the veggie patch behind the garage, and needed the bath out of there.

Frame all knocked up

Bubbles has knocked together the bathtub frame, and the tub fits in perfectly.

The frame will have picket slats around it to hid the under part of the tub. The basin will sit higher then the tub, and sit under one of our outside taps.

We plan for the water from the basin will actually drain into the bath, to water the plants that will be in there.

More to come.....

Presenting Miss Brydie & Christopher

Miss Brydie & Christopher
A couple of weeks ago, we were invited to a Deb Ball (Debutante Ball) for two of our swimming friends, Miss Brydie & Christopher.

It was a wonderful night. Miss Brydie & Christopher were presented and then did some dances, with a Zorro theme.

Miss Brydie wore a most gorgeous dress! and looked absolutely stunning all dressed up with hair and makeup done. (Not that she isn't stunning all the time, but normally we are in bathers and wet from the pool, so its nice to see people 'dressed up'!)

Christopher was very handsome. All suited up.

We where joined on a table with some other swimming friends. Giggles (who you have meet before), Zo-Zo, Lucille, young Jamie, and Mr&Mrs H. We all had so much fun. We danced lots (even they boys danced!), eat good food, and Bubbles & I explained to all the others what a Deb Ball was originally about.

We all had such a great night. It was wonderful that we could all be there and support Miss Brydie & Christopher. It was fun to watch them dance, with Miss Brydie wanting to do all the steps correctly & at the right time, while most of the other couples where out of sync!
